Merry Birthday!!!
Now that Halloween and Thanksgiving are over, we can start thinking about Christmas. I love Christmas; it's definitely my favorite time of year. And it's not just because of all the presents and good cheer. It's also because I have a Christmas birthday. Yes, that's right, my birthday is December 28th. Everyone I talk to about this says "It must have been rough, sharing your birthday week with JC, but it's never really been a problem for me, and i'm sure JC hasn't even noticed much.
My family was never mean, or cheap enough to try and combine my birthday and Christmas into one big Merry Birthday celebration, which I am really glad for. I think they set a good precident early, so none of my relatives were able to get off the hook for just one present for both events. I'm a little more grown up these days, so I won't mind if people send me Merry Birthday Ecards. It actually works out well, because many of my friends are on holidays during the Christmas break, so it makes it easy for them to come to my Birthday party. It's a busy time though so I always have to be sure to send out the Birthday party invitations early enough so people can plan to attend in that busy season. It's always worked out well for me. Everyone's in a good mood and filled with holiday cheer; either that, or they're ready to get away from their families for a night and party down with their good friends. This party should be the best yet.I sent out the Christmas/Birthday Party invitations today and people have already started to respond. I don't think my man JC will be able to make it, but I can't really blame him; he'll probably be a little tired after the whole world celebrates his birthday on the 25th.

Home for the Holidays
So this is the first post on ChristmasFuncards.com. Welcome! Once you get older, Christmas stops being about the best presents (although an iPod Touch might go a long way towards changing my opinion...MOM!) But really, once you get past a certain age, Christmas is all about togetherness with family and friends. This will be my first Christmas at home, since I moved to the other side of the country three years ago. My Fiancee and I decided to suck it up and fly accross the continent during the single most expensive time to do so. She reminds me daily that we could be going to Costa Rica All-Iclusive for about half the price of the plane tickets home for the holidays.
But really, I'm looking forward to re-connecting with all my family and friends from my old life. At home, we make a really big deal out of Christmas and I have no fewer than 4 different Christmas gatherings/parties to attend.
When you're coming such a long way, you have to do a lot of planning ahead of time, letting people know that you're going to be there and trying to make plans to see everyone you want to see. This is where Christmas Ecards come in. I've sent all of my friends and family a funny christmas ecard, just to let them know when I was coming and who I hoped to see.
We're also planning to have a big Christmas party for all my friends. I didn't want to send emails, because printable invitations just seem more personal, but at the same time, I didn't want to spend a lot on expensive Christmas Invitations. Instead I just used the EZ card creator to make my own Christmas Party Invites. That way I can spend money on more important things...like booze!
All in all I can't wait to come home for Christmas, just don't remind me about how I could be on a beach instead in -20 degree temperatures. I guess the roaring fire and eggnog and rum will be that much more comforting.
